ReadyBoost is a Windows feature that allows you to speed up a computer by using a USB stick
This is a feature that makes your computer faster and more responsive using a external USB memory as extra memory to expand the RAM.
In fact, when the RAM memory goes to fill up, instead of going to occupy resources on the hard disk (creating paging files, slowing down the operations) use the USB flash memory that we have selected, making the operation much faster.
The advantages and disadvantages of ReadyBoost
Among the advantages of this operation are the ones to be able to increase the capacity of the RAM without disassembling the computer, via USB memory. No need then to buy the RAM.
Among the disadvantages, however, there is the fact that you will need to consider that your USB stick will have less life. Of course, the life of the same will depend on its quality.
How to use ReadyBoost
- After you have inserted the USB memory, open my Computer
- Select the drive corresponding to our memory and click on Properties
- Select the ReadyBoost tab. If the device will not be compatible, you will be promptly notified by
- Selecting the option Dedicate the device to ReadyBoost Windows will use all the space left on the pendrive without deleting the files present
- By selecting the option Use the device you will be asked how much space we can use from what is available
- Click on Apply then OK
To disable the option, just disable it in the ReadyBoost tab.
This feature is really ingenious, and allows us to increase our RAM memory as well as the need of the moment requires of us.
