Block sites that mine with our browser

The new frontier for illegally earning money with cryptocurrencies

The hunt for cryptocurrency goes into infinity and beyond, up to exploiting the computing power of Internet users to generate it.

The basic idea is simple: a user browses a website, which includes a script that uses all the computing power of the visitor’s computer to generate cryptocurrency that will be credited to the website operator’s wallet.

At this point the question “What do I care?” Could be triggered, were it not for the fact that the script uses 100% of the processor making the computer unusable most of the time. Generally such scripts are hidden on sites that distribute pirated streaming movies, but they could be hidden on any other site.

To overcome the problem and prevent sites from using our computing power, it is possible to make use of some plugins, for Chrome and Firefox, which are right for us.

Mineblock is a plugin for Chrome, NoCoin is available for Chrome and Firefox, and they consist of a very similar operation to that of AdBlock.

These plugins intercept abusive scripts and block them, notifying you of their presence.
